Malta - Monday 15 August 2011.

Today we depart Malta for the major phase of the cricket tour.

So far we've played in Singapore and Malta playing lead up matches and practice before the Poms.

In Singapore we played an elite Singapore Junior XI consisting of 16-18 year olds,  They were superior to us in all respects and comfortably won the 30-over match.  Age and experience counts for nothing compared to youth.

There was a 20 hour flight to Malta from Singapore via Dubai and Cyprus.

In Malta we played and in house trail match with the Test XI batters bowled to by the first team bowlers  while the Social II XI did the same.

Yesterday we played Malta. There are some 50 cricketers in Malta of various nationalities and they play at the Marsa Sports Club a salubrious former British Military establishment - very pucker!!

The local won the 40 over match which was a close affair that turned in the Maltese favour when a young English lad smashed us to all parts.

So its two down and fingers crossed for success in the UK.  The scorecards will be included later - after I get a loan of the scorebooks.
